2012 Met Gala Highs and Lows

The Met Gala is fabulous. I can't handle how amazing the fashion is. I would kill to be a fly on those finely woven linen tents. This year there was some fashion that was daring and beautiful and some fashion that, while daring, was ugly.

Ashley Greene in Donna Karan            Caroline Trentini in Olivier Theyskens
Ashley looks so demure, so fresh, so clean. Just beautiful. I love this look on her. Caroline looks fabulous. I love the netting aspect of the top. It's daring but still works.

Solange Knowles in Rachel Roy                       Rihanna in Tom Ford
Can we just talk about how Solange Knowles is one of my favorite fashion people right now? She has been all over the place, looking fabulous all over the place. I love it. Rihanna also pulled the edgy card, as usual, but looks great doing it.

Dakota Fanning in Louis Vuitton                Diane Kruger in Prada
I really like Dakota Fanning's dress. I think it is both beautiful and age appropriate, but I do wish that the color was a little different. While it does look good, I feel like it washes her out a bit. I Love Diane Kruger's dress. I love the color and the silhouette on her. I wish it was pulled up a smidge though, I don't like the side boob action.

Dianna Agron in Carolina Herrera           Emily Blunt in Calvin Klein
I love the color of both dresses. I love Dianna Agron's hair, the cut, the belt, everything. I love the fit of Emily Blunt's dress and the cutouts, but I wish her hair was styled differently and maybe a smile, I mean you're on John Krasinski's arm, you've got a lot to be happy about.

Emma Roberts in Escada               Ginnifer Goodwin in Monique Lhuillier
Obsessed with Emma Roberts' dress. The color is amazing and so unique. I haven't seen it on anyone yet. I love it. The peplum is slight and works because of that, I love the neckline, the belt. Fabulous. I really like Ginnifer Goodwin's dress, but I don't like the styling. I wish her hair had been styled a little differently, maybe a little softer, with a little more volume, and I hate the shoe choice. It isn't obvious in this picture but the shoe color is a periwinkle-esque color. I don't like it with the orange. Gold would have been better with this color

January Jones in Versace               Julianne Hough in Carolina Herrera
I really like these two dresses. The colors are vibrant yet still sophisticated. Both dresses really flatter their bodies and both women look stunning. As an aside, January Jones' dress kind of reminds me of The Watchmen.

Kristen Wiig in Stella McCartney             La La Anthony in Zac Posen
Kristen Wiig has been on a great fashion streak and this is no exception. I love the color and the subtle print and I like her shoe choice better than Ginnifer Goodwin. I used to love La La when she was an MTV host and I love her in this dress! Her body looks fantastic in it and I love her and Melo. First family of the Knicks clean up nice.

The Worst
Elizabeth Banks in Mary Katrantzou            Emma Stone in Lanvin
Elizabeth Banks and Emma Stone both usually look beautiful and I usually love their fashion choices, but not this time. I absolutely hate Elizabeth Banks' dress. It's nutty. There are too many prints, I don't like the shoulder thing. I also don't like her helmet head. I don't mind Emma Stone's dress but the skirt is too full and her hair is wrong. She looks like a 12 year old girl at her fancy birthday party, not a beautiful woman at the Met Gala. Since Emma Stone usually has such beautiful fashion choices, a little daring, I was expecting something better.

Florence Welch in Alexander McQueen          Leighton Meester in Marchesa
Mary Kate Olsen in The Row
I don't even know what to say about these three women. These are just horrible looks.
Florence's dress looks like a poodle. Leighton and Mary Kate look nutty. Mary Kate actually looks sickly or like a crazy old woman, something insane.

My Nails Today

Pansy Nails. I'm exploring nail art now that I'm done with college.
I found this on pinterest. It linked me to a nail blog which I'm really enjoying. Here's the inspiration.

Same Shoe, Different Colors

I am actually still working on my post about Fashion Day, aka the night of the Met Gala, because there is so much fashion I loved. In the meantime, here are some shoes I like and different color options for each.

Target Fashion

I love Target. I know there are always similar stores, like drug stores and Wal-Mart, but for some reason Target is a cut above. Plus there are always some great fashion finds there, including the pictures below. Honestly, I would purchase most of these bags if I didn't already have too many purses.  I think the neon satchels are super cute and the satchel with the almost Peruvian print.

Giuseppe Zanotti Makes Some Beautiful/Cool Shoes

It feels like all of a sudden I see Giuseppe Zanotti's name all over the place. Every Hollywood celebrity is wearing something from him and it's usually a towering heel that I still can't understand the physics of. How on earth can you walk in that? And I bet your foot is too small to handle that angle well...

Anyway so it made me curious to find out more about his designs. I was pleasantly surprised. Despite the towering heels that the starlets have become obsessed with, Zanotti makes some really cool and well designed shoes at all different heights. Here are some of my favorite pieces, although keep in mind there were more!

Dresses I Would Wear To A Fancy Schmancy Event. If I Was Actually Going To One...

I really wish I had occasions to wear dresses like this. They are just absolutely stunning. Who are you people [wearing these] and how did you get to your social stature? I'm pretty sure I would hack off my right foot to have the opportunity to experience this level of fashion all year round. Sure, I mean, it wouldn't be that great a look, but I'd deal. I'd just wear gowns everywhere and then no one would see my one mangled leg. I'm just going to force all of my friends to make their weddings black tie. That would work, right? After all weddings are all about the insane and fashion-crazed best friend, are they not?
